On Friday, April 7, Hillsdale College hosted Wayne LaPierre, the executive vice president and CEO of the National Rifle Association (NRA).
LaPierre spoke about the importance of truth in today’s highly-polarized political environment. He praised Hillsdale’s dedication to the pursuit of truth and liberty, and emphasized how the NRA shares this pursuit, highlighting several of its initiatives.
“People all over the country know what this institution means and the difference it’s making,” LaPierre said. “But the key is, we do it all together. It’s amazing what we can do together. Patriotic Americans have always been up to the challenge of preserving our freedoms.”
Dr. Larry Arnn, Hillsdale College president, and Dr. David Raney, history professor at Hillsdale, introduced LaPierre to the audience. “One thing that hasn’t changed is Wayne LaPierre’s unswerving devotion to liberty,” said Dr. Raney.
Dr. Raney also recognized Hillsdale College’s Shotgun Team, which recently won the Division 3 ACUI Collegiate Clay Target Championship on April 2. This was the team’s fifth national championship.
